Our 2008 Instructors:

This year we are featuring the following instructors. They were hand-picked and are the cream of the crop in our opinion. We look forward to another great group to help bring out the creative genius in our campers.

Niki Eatman is an amazingly talented fashion designer who is originally from Portland. Her line Luxury Jones is sold in New York and LA and has a growing fanbase including Sarah Jessica Parker. Her use of dyes and screenprinting makes her garments special and unique. She will show the campers how imagery can change a garment from plain to exciting.

Laura Erwin is a knitting queen. Recently she’s gotten her own studio space and you can expect to see more of her work around town and if you’re lucky you can enroll in one of her classes, hopefully coming soon! Come say hi to her at Seaplane!

Navassa Hilbertz is a Los Angeles designer who encompasses elements of vintage clothing and costume into her designs. Her best friend is the ruffle, and second best friend...the feather! Most recently, she has designed for the LA label, Vintage Betty, which has been worn by the likes of Paris Hilton and Meg White, to name a few. A line which has made its way into the highly coveted boutique, Fred Segal. She is well-vexed in all arenas of the fashion industry and is looking forward to meeting the next generation of designers!

Jarom Newbill is a buyer and sales rep for a high-end men’s clothing store, Collier (located at 340 SW Morrison street Portland, Or. 97204). He is a fashion expert and will be helping the kids recreate plain t-shirts into something creative and unique. He has also begun working with his girlfriend on their own label, 4813!

Blake Nieman-Davis is a Portland Native who moved back here from San Francisco a few years ago. He opened a shop ("BLAKE") on NW 23rd, which is hugely successful and a destination point for men's and women's clothing in this city. He is a denim expert and will be teaching the kids about label design and the importance of business and marketing. Check out his website at www.loveblake.com

Elizabeth Rohloff has been teaching for 19 years in Portland and designing and manufacturing clothing for over 15 years. Her specialties include beautiful collections of hats and bags. She will be teaching the kids simple pattern making that will lead them to creating their own tote bag. Elizabeth is very active in the Portland area and is now introducing ‘The Sewing Lounge’, where people are encouraged to bring in a current project and have a great instructor to help out with all your questions! Email her at: erohloff@gmail.com. Check out her websites at: www.elizabethrohloff.com and www.elizabethrohloff.etsy.com and the Sewing Lounge.
